Founded in 2010, the Greater Tucson Fire Foundation aims to support firefighters by tackling three major job-related concerns: cardiac health, cancer, and mental well-being. Nearly half of the firefighter fatalities on duty stem from cardiac arrest, and cancer is swiftly becoming the leading cause of death in the field. Unfortunately, more firefighters are likely to take their own lives than perish while serving. They would give everything for us, so our responsibility is to ensure they maintain healthy and balanced lives during their service into retirement.
